The municipality is geared up and ready to host a bumper weekend in Durban. Various major events will be taking place around the city this Saturday and Sunday.

Law Enforcement Agencies will be out in full force to ensure that the thousands of people who will descend on our shores to enjoy their favourite game at either the Moses Mabhida Stadium or Growth Point Kings Park Stadium or be a part of the Discovery East Coast Radio Big Walk on the promenade will have a hassle-free and memorable time.

As all these events will be taking place around the same vicinity, traffic congestion is anticipated.

People coming to either of the two stadia are therefore encouraged to arrive at least two hours before the game starts to ensure that by the time it gets underway they are at the stadium and will be able to enjoy from beginning to end. Motorists should note that Isaiah Ntshangase (Walter Gilbert) will be closed from Umngeni Road to Masabalala Yengwa (NMR) Avenue on Saturday from 06h00-18h00.  Only authorised vehicles will be allowed to enter into the precinct.  Masabalala Yengwa Avenue will also be closed between Sandile Thusi (Argyle) and Isaiah Ntshangase Roads for approximately 30 minutes after the soccer match finishes at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.

Parking will be provided at the Growth Point Kings Park Stadium, Mustering Fields, Natal Command Site and Drive-Inn Site.

For the Discovery East Coast Radio Big Walk on Sunday, Masabalala Yengwa Avenue will be closed between Smiso Nkwanyana (Goble) and Sandile Thusi Roads from 05h00-12h30. Other road closures will be at Athlone Drive between Masabalala Yengwa Avenue and Snell Parade, M4 (north and south bound) off-ramp to Athlone Drive and the M4 (north and south bound) on-ramp to Riverside Road.

Designated parking with signage will be available around the precinct.

Alternatively motorists can park at uShaka Marine World and catch a shuttle bus. No illegal parking will be tolerated by the Traffic Law Enforcement Agencies. Motorists who will not be part of any of the activities taking place are urged to use alternative routes.

*Kaizer Chiefs v Supersport United starts at 15h00 on Saturday.

*Sharks v Vodacom Bulls starts at 19h10 on Saturday.
