Durban sailing for a cause
Updated | By Andre Bloem
Durban’s sailing community will be joining forces to raise funds for the NSRI with two events during the winter season - the first being the Barrel Race Day on Sunday 9 June.
The annual Barrel Race Day is an exhilarating event involving both competitive and recreational sailors. Members of the four yacht clubs - Bluff, Island Sailing, Point and the Royal Natal - will gather in the harbour.
The day starts with a nautical sail-past. The yachts will then enjoy a race in the harbour. There will also be a pirate theme this year.
Festivities will end with an auction at the Royal Natal Yacht Club where items will be up for grabs, with the funds raised going directly to the NSRI Station 5. Members of the public are invited to support this great cause to contribute to the volunteers that give their time to save us in our time of need.
Looks like another day of good (big) surf with light winds. Temperatures will remain cool with Durban peaking in the low 20s.
