Durban daga salmon action

The latest Kingfisher ski-boat and paddle-ski update says that Mapelane, St Lucia and Cape Vidal still seem to be quiet. Aside from a few snoek, a lot of skippers and paddlers have come back empty-handed.

It is a very different story in Durban, where the daga salmon season is in full swing with reports of good catches in the Cuttings and Bluff areas. The bait marks have produced the odd big couta, while Blue Lagoon and the surrounds has seen some nice snoek caught. Tinley and Jex Estate have produced some nice fish as well.

The south coast is still producing good catches of bottom fish and yellowfin tuna are still in the mix.

We are in for clear skies today to start our week with a maximum temperature of 22 degrees in Durban. SW winds are blowing and there is a lot of swell around.

Windguru has predicted gigantic surf this morning with a 5m swell at 18 seconds off Durban. Unless the swell hasn’t wrapped into the Durban beachfront, it looks like a day for the big wave surfers and tow-in surfing crew only.
