Dolphins too strong for Titans

Hollywoodbets Dolphins became the first team to beat the Multiply Titans in the T20 Challenge this season after a fine Cameron Delport-led chase saw them secure a six-wicket win at Sahara Stadium Kingsmead in Durban on Wednesday.

The big all-rounder smashed 62 (33 balls, 6 fours, 3 sixes) as the hosts chased down a 171 victory target with four balls to spare.

It was a first defeat for the defending champions in the 2016 competition after they won five of their previous six games, with their odd result being a washed out fixture, although they did remain top of the standings with a five-point lead over the Warriors.

In a highly-entertaining clash, the visitors won the toss and chose to bat, before amassing an impressive 170/4. Farhaan Behardien top-scored with a top-class 72 not out (40 balls, 9 fours, 2 sixes) – his aggression lighting up the innings after they had slipped to 101/4 in the 14th over.

Heino Kuhn struck 30, while Albie Morkel chipped in with an unbeaten 29. The most successful of the bowlers was Robbie Frylinck with 2/37.

The Dolphins chase was set up by a blistering start by Delport and Morne van Wyk (27). The pair put on 60 in 5.4 overs to lay the foundation for the win.

Even though Kevin Pietersen (5) failed on his first home appearance, Cody Chetty (29 not out) and Khayaz Zondo (26) provided good support for Delport, allowing the Dolphins to secure their third win of the season – and one that strengthened their grip on third position.
