Despite the loss the Sunfoil Dolphins remain at the top of the RamSlam log at the halfway point in the T20 competition, but they will look back on the match analytically to review where they let it get away.

Put in to bat, the Sunfoil Dolphins lost skipper van Wyk and fellow opener Andile Phehlukwayo early, before Kevin Pietersen steadied the ship with a 50 partnership with Khaya Zondo.

Pietersen went on to register his fourth half century of the tournament, knocking 59 runs off 35 balls, and proved to be the mainstay of the innings, bringing his five match contribution to the team to a fitting end.

Once he had fallen, Ryan McLaren, making his return from his loan to the Knights, got together with David Miller to get their side close to the 150 mark.

Their total of 148/9 was fifteen or twenty runs shy, with only three batsmen getting into double figures.

The match got away from them when Cobras opener Richard Levi carved an audacious 61 off 28 balls before he fell to Dwayne Bravo, making his first appearance of the season for the Sunfoil Dolphins.

Khaya Zondo added another two quick wickets and the Dolphins looked to have clawed their way back into the match. By their own standards their fielding on the blustery Highveld day was poor and dropped catches started to count against them.

The potential threat of Kieron Pollard was snuffed out when keeper Morne van Wyk deftly stumped the explosive West Indian off the bowling of Keshav Maharaj.

The Cobras went into the final over needing five runs to win, which they did with two balls to spare.

The Sunfoil Dolphins will look forward to playing their next match in front of their home ground faithful on Wednesday evening when they host the Titans starting at 6pm.
