The Dolphins produced a clinical display with the ball in the morning session on day three with the Knights in a position to sting the Dolphins should they get in.

At 150 for two overnight the Dolphins struck early when Daryn Dupavillon had night watchman Migael Pretorius well caught behind by Mangaliso Mosehle for eight.

Just fifteen runs later and the Dolphins have the Knights' fourth wicket when Prenelan Subrayen bowled Patrick Botha for six. Just a run later and the Dolphins were well on top when the inform Matthew Kleinveldt was well run-out by Khaya Zondo for 77.

The Knights were 172 for five, leading by 35 runs.

The last five wickets for the Knights only yielded 41 runs with Dupavillon bagging three wickets and Senuran Muthusamy picking up two of them.

Ultimately the visitors were bowled out for 213 and set the Dolphins 77 runs to win the match.

The stand-out again for the hosts was Dupavillon who finished with figures of four for 66. This gave him match figures of 11 for 104 which are his career-best match figures in first-class cricket.

Muthusamy added to his two first innings wickets with three in the second innings as he returned figures of three for 45.

The Dolphins in their chase lost wickets fairly regularly but Keegan Pietersen remained the rock of the innings as they made relatively heavy weather of the 77 runs to win.

Eventually the side got over the line five wickets down with Pietersen not out on 28 and Mangaliso Mosehle unbeaten on 12.

Assistant coach Quinton Friend was pleased with the effort from the side given their result in Bloemfontein in the first game against the Knights.

"We didn't play well in Bloemfontein so to get the result we did here against them is very satisfying," Friend said. "I think the boys knew that we needed to change something and we needed to step up against them here at home we did just that.

"Daryn (Dupavillon) was exceptional taking eleven wickets in his first game back from injury and the spinners were magnificent in holding the game perfectly for us.

"I thought our tail batted brilliantly in the first innings helping us get that lead that put us in the position to win the game."

The Dolphins will next travel to SuperSport Park to face the Multiply Titans from 13-16 December.
