Diran Zakarian boss at New Pier
Updated | By Andre Bloem
Diran Zakarian from Cape Town edged out last year’s winner Slade Prestwich (Durban) to win the 2013 edition of the Quiksilver Pro Junior held at Durban’s New Pier on Sunday.
Zakarian came up against strong competition from Dylan Lightfoot (Jeffreys Bay), David van Zyl (Durban) and Prestwich.
In the younger Quiksilver King of the Groms divisions it was Adin Masencamp Cape Town who stole the show, cleaning up in both the boys U16 division and boys U14 division.
Out of town surfer Max Elkington (Cape Town) was unstoppable in the U12 boys final and won the title ahead off Angelo Faulkner (Jeffreys Bay), Karl Steen (Durban) and York van Jaarsveld (Cape Town).
