"In our last Vodacom SupeRugby match against the Cheetahs last year in Durban we lost the match - so I knew that our coaching team were not taking this encounter lightly.

The Ugly and Annoying

I am absolutely fed up with SA sides that can only muster defence against the Sharks. The Cheetahs defence over the last month has had more holes than Swiss cheese! They have handed out bonus point wins to both The Chiefs and Saders for the last 2 matches they played at home in Bloem. They will not make any progress in SupeRugby if they continue with this trend. If they had played like this at the beginning of their campaign, they would not be languishing at the bottom of the combined log! I am absolutely #GATVOL with them.

The Bad

We need to go back to the drawing board. I not happy with our set-piece. We did not dominate enough at the breakdown and Heinrich made an absolute nuisance of himself. The first half was very scrappy and really is a cause for concern. We need to be very careful in our next game as we made far too many handling errors. I am concerned that the injuries are piling up and we have not left on tour yet. Scrums were great though as well as the rolling maul.

The Good

We played a really average game of rugby and still won!!! We also deprived The Cheetahs a bonus point. Our Tim tried really hard and he needs to just relax and believe in himself. Beast had a really great game with some impressive carries. Deysel rocked with that lovely team try. Kanko made an impact after coming off the bench and I think that Keegs also had a good game. All in all, a really tough match where once again our Fransie saved the day. I am very happy that we beat The Cheetahs. I am delighted that we are top of the overall log. I am further delighted that in spite of the last minute changes due to injury, our boys have come through for us for the really important win. I will take a “ugly” win any day! Well done boys."
