Dawn: Sharks need wake-up call
Updated | By ECR Newswatch
The reason for that is they seem to be capable of only playing really well against the Sharks and tend to roll over against other opponents, for example their opening loss to the Pumas! So, I expected them to play their best game so far and that is exactly what happened.
The Ugly
What the hell???? All of a sudden, we cannot pass the ball, counter-ruck, defend etc! We were absolutely horrendous in the first half. The only thing that we did well was scrum. We handed out penalties like they were smarties. Overall, I have yet to see a more dismal, insipid and sloppy performance by my team.
The Good
Miraculously, the team woke up in the last quarter and managed to shake off their lethargy by scoring a wonderful try. Tonderai was really awake enough to spot the gap and score a try. Darren, Mak and I did the jiggy with great enthusiasm as we and the rest of Durban, were freezing our butts off.
Freddie had a really good kicking game and we won this match largely due to his accuracy with the boot. Quite frankly, The Cheetahs were truly outstanding and did everything they could to win. In the end, the Boys did enough to scrape ahead, and a win is a win. I am still not quite sure how though….but that is a topic for another day. Sigh!
The Great
Attendance at the stadium was awesome. Thank you Durban, you guys rock. I so appreciate the support for the boys on a really cold night.
