Dawn: Good, bad and great

Dawn: Good, bad and great

I had a really lovely week leading up to this fixture and I was really excited to have a home match this week.

Watching the match on TV is okay but going to the stadium for me is always the ultimate. Darren Maule indicated that he would be able to attend and generally he is very lucky for the boys.

The Bad

The Pumas dominated from the start and scored a try in the first 5 mins of the game. We really need to be more aggressive at the breakdown and need to start attacking from kick-off. Discipline remains an issue as we have conceded 2 yellow cards in 2 matches.

The Ugly

First half was just terrible. Sloppy, disorganised and execution was poor.  Pumas defence was outstanding!

The Good and Great!

Whatever Brad said at half time was super effective! The boys came out with a bang. SP went over for a try 2 mins into second half. Darren and I immediately, got up, and started doing the ‘try’jiggy wiggy. I must say that I am impressed with Darren’s rhythm! Botes was just absolutely amazing!

He scavenged for the ball and provided inspiration to the team. He also went over the next try and checked the Pumas attack effectively. Freddie was solid again with a good performance. I am happy with the improvement from Thomas ‘The Tank’ as well as our lineouts with Kyle (Yes, I know I picked on you last week, but well done with the improvement).

I am happy with the overall improvement the team has shown. My darling baby boy, Pat Lambie was rock solid when he came on to convert Botes try. For the record, I am NOT HAPPY with Botes hanging up his boots at the end of this season and I will do my best to change his mind.

Skipper Tera Mthembu, led by example by crashing over with his try as well. The boys wrapped things up efficiently by scoring a bonus point win. Monde Habede, gets full honours for that. Conditions were difficult and attendance was atrocious! However, the boys are building and showing tremendous character by winning against a very determined Pumas team. Well done my babies, I am still smiling with delight!
