Dawn Dunn's take on Boks win in Paris

Dawn Dunn's take on Boks win in Paris

Our Boks have not won on French soil for 16 years! And certainly not from a lack of trying.

The Bad

For me, personally though, The French will NOT be forgiven for stuffing up our National Anthem in 2009. Ras Dumisane, mauled, mutilated and murdered our anthem in an off-key rendition that is reminiscent of a bad idols wooden mic contestant. He is an idiot and shouldn’t be allowed to sing in the shower, let alone in a stadium in front of the world.

The Ugly

The dodgy try given to the French. Ian Ramage’s denial of a further 2 tries. The one denied try made me absolutely livid. The ball clearly went back off Steyn’s fingers and the try was not awarded.

The good and flipping fabulous!

My Boks absolutely physically dominated the French. They couldn’t get any quality ball. Despite the hostile atmosphere at the stadium, the crabby officials, and the pressure applied by the French, the Boys took all of this in their stride and  absorbed the pressure and turned it into points. Steyn didn’t have his best game as his tactical kicking was off and he failed to find touch twice at crucial times in the match. Steyn’s goal kicking was great though. JP had an outstanding game. His charge-down of Parra’s clearance kick was sheer genius and resulted in a try during the opening first  3 mins of the game. This left the French gobsmacked and the Boks fed off that momentum. Alberts was epic in defence. He has had an outstanding tour and has delivered brilliantly even though he isn’t 100% fit. His MOM award is well deserved.  Coenie has pleasantly surprised me in the scrums and I am looking forward to seeing him develop. Bryan, JP, Bismarck, Flo, Flip and Bakkies all contributed to total physical dominance that never let the French in, and as a result, the Boks never looked in any danger of losing the lead.

Lambie, was once again, not on long enough. Strauss really surprised me with his very wobbly lineouts! I really expect better from him. He was very good defensively though. It was really nice to see Michalak in play again, although he wasn’t on long enough to make any impact, thank goodness! I’ve grown quite fond of him for the French flair he brought to the Sharks.

Lourens got his first cap and I hope to see more of him in the future. I really feel that we’re on the right track, in our preparations for the IRB RWC2015. There is still a lot of work to be done though.

I am, however, going to take this win and gloat for a very, very, long time.

I just Love rugby, I Love my Boks and I am super proud to be a South African.

As the song goes, The Future’s  so bright, I gotta wear shades….lol

Woohoo rock on Bok rugby!
