Dawn Dunn talks Bok win at Murrayfield

In the week leading up to this test match, quite a bit was said, by the Scots coaching team, about the last time we played them in Nelspruit earlier on this year.

A lot was made of the fact that the Scots had us on the back foot until about the 50th min. The Scots were hoping to build on this performance and hopefully upset the Boks. Sadly, the Scots never really turned up and at no point did they look even remotely threatening.

The Bad

The conditions on the field were just terrible. The illegal tackle on Flo by Hamilton in the second half that went completely unpunished, really ticked me off. Hamilton made no attempt to use his arms. I get really upset when any of the boys are taken off on a stretcher. Cheap shot by the Scots and I really expected better. I hope that Jim gets cited.

The Ugly

The inconsistency shown by the ref towards the Boks by awarding Coetzee a yellow. The sheer unprofessionalism shown by the TMO in deciding whether or not the Scots had scored a try or was there a knock-on. Some of the comments made, concerned me by the lack of knowledge revealed.  I really hope that this was just a language barrier.

The Good

The Boks absolutely smashed the Scots and totally dominated them in the first half. The Boks were an absolute wrecking ball, I was feeling sorry for the Scots by 30 mins.

The Scots really disappointed themselves and their loyal supporters by not putting in a 100%. It was an honour to see Bakkies on the field again, although Heynecke needs to use him rather as an impact player. JP celebrated his 50th test cap by scoring an absolutely wonderful try. Willie Le Roux had an epic game. His intercept try, sent the kids and I, into delirium. We have our victory shuffle down pat!

Alberts, Flo, Duane and Strauss were colossal on defence. The Scots had 70% of the possession in the second half but could not convert any of this possession into points. This was due to  truly impregnable defence by my Boys. They displayed commitment by putting their bodies on the line and shutting down or turning over any attacking play. The try-saving  cover tackle by JP was awesome and he is becoming known for them.

This Bok side were very good in the first half and average in the second and yet still managed  not to concede any points. They scored 4 tries with relative ease. I am very excited about the direction Springbok rugby is heading in. I am truly proud and delighted with the boys.

I am going to sleep in my Bok jersey, I am so proud.

Love my country, love my Boks.
