CSA refutes reports that board members resigned

Cricket South Africa has refuted reports late this week that some of its board members had resigned from their posts following a Members’ Council meeting on Thursday night.

The organisation confirmed that the Members' Council meeting took place on Thursday evening to discuss various matters concerning the organisation and what moves would be in 'best interest of cricket' following a tumultuous few months for the embattled institution.
The Members' Council meeting analysed several scenarios that were outlined by the Board after its own meeting on Wednesday 21 October.
Cricket South Africa confirmed that acting president Beresford Williams and other board members that also sit on the Members' Council recused themselves from Thursday night's meeting. This was done in accordance with the CSA Code of Ethics so as not to have an conflict of interest during the latter meeting.
The organisation also refuted media reports that Dheven Dharmalingam, a director of CSA, had resigned from his post - labelling these reports as 'inaccurate and inapproriate'.
CSA Members’ Council member Rihan Richards chaired Thursday's meeting in the absence of Williams and said in a statement that various scenarios had been tabled at the Board's meeting on Wednesday which were then discussed the following evening by the Members' Council.
“The Members’ Council deliberated on the various proposals submitted by the Board. The Board had met prior and discussed various strategies that would best position CSA, one of these approaches was that if the Board would need to step down for the best interest of CSA, the Board would then do so as it would be for the greater good of South African cricket, Richards said in a statement.
“Dheven Dharmalingam presented a letter to the Board of Directors indicating his willingness to step down, should the Members' Council believe that it is in the best interest for cricket and the organisation as a whole."
While Cricket South Africa's upper echelons grapples with ongoing management woes, the domestic cricket season is gearing up for a start with the Four Day Series on November 2. The Proteas will also welcome England to South Africa for a six match white ball tour which includes three T20 internationals and three ODIs.
