In the men's group, Western Province pair of Nandre Burger and Tony de Zorzi have both been awarded their first central contract while fast bowler Gerald Coetzee has been given his first full season central contract. He received an upgrade to a full contract during the past season.

All three have impressed in Proteas colours with Burger and Coetzee adding to an already impressive line of fast bowlers that South Africa produces.

De Zorzi made his international debut in all three formats in the previous season and scored a maiden test hundred against the West Indies and will be an important cog in the Proteas top order in red ball cricket.

After losing his central contract last season, Hollywoodbets Dolphins all-rounder Andile Phehlukwayo returns to the centrally contracted group after an impressive season both for the Proteas and domestically.

One of the glaring omissions on the men's side is seamer Anrich Nortje. Nortje spent a large portion of the season on the sidelines with a stress fracture and has not had his contract renewed.

The women's side has also seen some changes with the likes of Shabnim Ismail moving on, but they have increased the contracted players number from 15 to 16 for the upcoming season.

Hollywoodbets Dolphins fast bowler Ayanda Hlubi is one of the new inclusions along with Titans all-rounder Eliz-Mari Marx.

"We are pleased to announce the Proteas Men and Women’s contracted squad for the 2024/25 season," Director of Cricket at CSA Enoch Nkwe said. "The player selection for both squads reflects our commitment to nurturing talent and rewarding exceptional performances.

"Our goal is to continue building strong and competitive teams that can consistently challenge on the global stage. With the addition of promising newcomers and the retention of experienced players, we believe we have assembled squads capable of achieving success in the upcoming season."
