Burger picked for Bloemfontein

Schalk Burger is on the Western Province bench for the Absa Currie Cup clash with the Free State Cheetahs on Friday.

Burger last played rugby back in February 2012. A variety of injuries and a bout of meningitis have kept Burger on the sidelines for the past 19 months.

Deon Fourie will captain Province in Bloemfontein.

Also in their starting 15 are the likes of Gio Aplon, Cheslin Kolbe, Kurt Coleman, Michael Rhodes and Pat Cilliers.

Province are second in the Currie Cup standings. They trail the Sharks on points-difference.

The Sharks will also play on Friday. They have a date with the MTN Lions in Johannesburg.
