Some nice size karanteen and bigger blacktail have also been providing action for light tackle enthusiasts on the Bluff beaches.

Toti seems to be one the few spots that has consistently produced shad recently. Quite a few have been undersize - so be aware of size limits - 30cm from tip of the nose to the end of the tail.

Winkelspruit has seen a good run of shad, but it was short-lived with the fish not biting much over the past few days.

Surfers need to get a move on with entries closing today for the Scottburgh Powerplay Surf Pro, which is one of the richest Surfing South Africa Pro Surf Tour events this year. It is a contest for both males and females and offers a prize pool of R50 000. The contest will take place at Scottburgh beach on the KZN south coast this weekend. There is a 3A rating for the men’s event with a R30 000 prize purse and a 2A rating for the women’s event with a R20 000 prize purse. Lizzard are involved as a contest sponsor and there are awesome contestant packs for all of the surfers taking part.

The lucrative Surf Pro forms part of the Africa Marine & Leisure Expo presented by UGU South Coast Tourism and boasts an action-packed entertainment line-up for the whole family to enjoy. To enter visit www.surfingsouthafrica.co.za. Entries close today!

It is going to be another beautiful day with clear skies, a maximum of 22 degrees and westerly winds blowing. There has been a lot of swell on the coast so it may be worth checking for a surf between work or school today.
