Big yellowfin tuna on the south coast
Updated | By Staff Writer

A handful of Grunter have been caught in the Durban Bay and there have been sightings of a few Pike and bigger Kingfish there too.
Snoek have been sighted off Durban but don’t seem to be feeding. Amongst these fish have been some Yellowfin Tuna, bigger Bonito and the night-rated skippers have been targeting Geelbek and Kob with some good success.
There have been some excellent catches of Yellowfin Tuna varying in size from small fry to big boys of over 30 kgs on the south coast. There have also been one or two Wahoo around.
We have partly cloudy weather forecast for this morning otherwise a 30% chance of showers and thundershowers for the rest of the day with SSW winds blowing and a high of 21 degrees.
There is some swell around with Windguru showing 2.2m at 9 seconds so surfers should keep an eye on their local breaks. Today and tomorrow could be the only gaps for decent surf as there appears to be onshore winds from Thursday until the weekend.
