Big race in Durban on Sunday
Updated | By Andre Bloem
Over 6000 women will be competing in the third annual Totalsports Ladies race in Durban on Sunday.
The event, which attracts KZN's top female athletes for both the 5km and 10km distances, will start and finish in NMR Avenue.
The action is scheduled to get underway at 8am and will see NMR closed from Goble Road to Old Fort road from 06h30.
The flat course with the expected cool weather conditions could see some fast times in both the open and age group categories.
The new promenade from Blue Lagoon to Battery Beach will be closed from 07h30 to 09h00.
Access to the race at Berea Rovers in Jacko Jackson will be off Goble Road and drivers coming from the south, city or the west are advised to approach from Umgeni Road. Drivers from Durban North and further north should use Northway and then go down NMR to Goble Road.
There will be a narrowing of traffic lanes on Old Fort road outside the Sahara Kingsmeade Stadium, but Old Fort Road will be open.
The M4 Ruth First Highway will remain open for the full duration of the race.
