South Africa's Kevin Anderson on Thursday cruised into the third round of the US Open, beating American Austin Krajicek in straight sets.
The 15th seed won 6-3, 6-4, 6-2 to set up a third round date with Austria's Dominic Thiem, who went through after Uzbekistan's Denis Istomin retired two sets down in their clash.
Anderson, the South African No 1, had started his campaign with a four-sets victory over 17-year-old Andrey Rublev from Russia on Tuesday.
There were second round wins Stan Wawrinka, Andy Murray, Tomas Berdych, John Isner and Roger Federer.
