Alexander five-for revives Dolphins
Updated | By Michael Owen-Smith
Craig Alexander grabbed five wickets as the Sunfoil Dolphins fought back on a shortened second day of their Sunfoil Series clash against the Cape Cobras in Cape Town on Friday.
Only 53.5
overs were possible as bad light and rain meant that there was hardly any play
during the afternoon as the hosts were dismissed for 252 in reply to the
visitors’ 183 - a lead of only 69.
There were two standout performers at PPC Newlands, one being fast bowler Alexander as he bagged 5/62 in an impressive 21 overs.
Most of the scoring for the Cobras on day two came from Dane Vilas as he struck 80 (98 balls, 11 fours 1 six).
The Proteas’ wicketkeeper shared in a stand of 101 for the sixth wicket with first-innings bowling hero Wayne Parnell (31) in the most significant stand for their side.
The home side lost too many wickets too regularly with medium-pacer Rabian Engelbrecht adding 3/60 to his name.
The Cobras were eventually dismissed in 88.5 overs, having only just resumed following a lengthy delay.
