Zweli Mkhize: 'No PPE, no work'

Health care workers should not have to risk their lives while fighting the coronavirus, says Health Minister Zweli Mkhize.
Mkhize praised the country's frontline personnel for their hard work during the COVID-19 crisis.

He addressed the issue of personal protective equipment (PPE) during a webinar last night after more than 27 000 health care workers were infected with the virus - 240 of them have lost their lives.
"We have taken a slogan that says 'No PPE, no work', because we want to encourage all those who are in the leadership to take the issue of the protection of health workers serious."
Mkhize says all safety concerns raised by personnel must be taken seriously.
"The people who know where the shoe pinches are whose who are in the frontline, irrespective of the assurances that we may be getting that everything is in order."
