Zweli Mkhize and wife, May contract coronavirus

Health Minister Zweli Mkhize and his wife, May have tested positive for COVID-19.

He's now in quarantine at home. 


Mkhize says they went for a test on Saturday when he started experiencing mild symptoms. 


The Minister says the exhaustion he'd felt, as the day progressed, wasn't normal and he began to lose his appetite. 


His wife - who had a cough and experienced dizziness - was admitted for observation and rehydration. 


Mkhize says they remain optimistic that they'll recover fully from the virus.

He's also turned his attention to the country's efforts to stem the spread of the disease. 


The Minister's begged us not to neglect health protocols - saying we need to wear our masks, practise social distancing and wash our hands regularly. 


He says we've already made significant strides in our fight against the pandemic and cannot regress. 


Mkhize also reminded South Africans about the risk of a second wave saying we need to play our part and limit our movement.
