Zuma’s Ramaphosa private prosecution appeal dismissed

Jacob Zuma's attempts to privately prosecute President Cyril Ramaphosa have been dealt another blow.

The High Court in Johannesburg has dismissed, with costs, Zuma's application for leave to appeal an earlier ruling.
The former statesman's case was earlier this year declared unlawful and set aside.
Zuma accused Ramaphosa of being an accessory after the fact in a matter relating to his arms deal trial.
He claims the state prosecutor leaked a copy of his medical records to the media.
The ruling was handed down virtually on Tuesday morning by Judge Lebogang Modiba.
"We have prepared a written judgment which will be made available to the parties as soon as proceedings are adjourned. It will also be uploaded to CaseLines and released to SAFLII [The Southern African Legal Information Institute]. The application is dismissed with costs."
The legal blow comes hours after the Pietermaritzburg High Court denied Zuma leave to appeal an earlier ruling in the matter against Advocate Billy Downer and journalist Karyn Maughan.
