Zuma’s possible exclusion will be setback for MK party – political expert
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
A political analyst says Jacob Zuma's MK party will suffer severe consequences if the former president fails in his bid to challenge his exclusion in the upcoming elections.
The Electoral Court is expected to hand down its ruling on Tuesday.
The uMkhonto we Sizwe party dragged the IEC to court after it barred Zuma from standing as a candidate in the May elections.
The electoral commission said the former president isn't eligible due to his contempt of court conviction, which resulted in jail time.

The party's attorneys argued yesterday that excluding Zuma from the elections would violate his rights and disadvantage his supporters.
Analyst Levy Ndou says Zuma is aware that he doesn't qualify.
'He is also aware that if he is not there as the leader of the MK party, he has the potential to disorganise the campaign of his party, but he wants to go there to continue with the MK party.
“The bottom line is that he wants to portray himself as a victim."
