Zuma trial postponed for Downer recusal application
Updated | By Newswatch
The fraud and corruption trial against Jacob Zuma has been postponed until mid-August by the High Court in Pietermaritzburg.
That's when arguments will be heard in the former president's second application in a bid to have Advocate Billy Downer removed from the case.
"This matter is adjourned to 15 August 2023 for the hearing of Mr Zuma's second application for the removal of Mr Downer as prosecutor in the criminal trial. That application is set to run for two days," said Judge Nkosinathi Chili, who has been presiding over the case since Judge Piet Koen recused himself in January.

Zuma has accused Downer of leaking his medical records to the media, which the advocate denies.
The former president is accused of taking bribes in the nineties from French defence giant Thales, which has also been charged with corruption and money laundering.
Both have denied wrongdoing.
