Zuma says Operation Phakisa is bearing fruit
Updated | By AlgoaFM News
President, Jacob Zuma says R17 billion in investments has been unlocked since the commencement of Operation Phakisa in 2014.
Highlighting achievements of the first phase of the initiative in Port Elizabeth yesterday, Zuma said more than 4 500 jobs had been created in the programme's various sectors.
Operation Phakisa, was launched as part of the government's National Development Plan to boost the economy and create jobs through the so-called oceans economy.
Zuma says more than R400 million from the private sector and government will be invested for aqua-culture farming in KwaZulu-Natal, the Eastern Cape, Western Cape and the Northern Cape.
"We are focused on removing legislative uncertainty, lengthy bureaucratic authorisation procedures, delays and funding. All spheres of government must be involved and must participate in removing obstacles to investment in the country," he said.
