Zuma reacts to SONA 2017 disruptions

EFF members traded blows with the white shirt brigade - Parliament’s security personnel - before being forcibly removed from the National Assembly. 

Zuma only delivered his address an hour after the disruptions. 

Addressing the issue yesterday after the SONA debate, Zuma reprimanded MPs.

"Some members of Parliament have decided to treat this house like something worse than a beer hall. The conduct we saw in this house traumatised millions of South Africans," he said. 

The president has also commented on incidents of cyber racism in the country, Zuma says in order for democracy to be sustainable, people have to learn to embrace diversity. 

The SA Human Rights Commission is compiling a report after hosting a national hearing on racism and social media this week.

"This is a problem. If we don't [solve this] - we won't be working for a future that is peaceful, we have a Constitution and the law where we can address this matter," he said.
