Zuma promises tougher actions for slacking officials
Updated | By Algoa FM
ANC President Jacob Zuma says the ruling party will take a tough stance on non-delivery and corrupt officials, particularly at municipal level.
The warning was sounded yesterday when Zuma unveiled the ANC's local government election manifesto.
He told supporters that the ANC would prevent municipal officials, councillors and their immediate families from doing business with government.
Zuma also said that all ANC councillors would be bound by a code of conduct.
"Going forward we will require councillors to sign performance and accountability agreements," he said.
"In rural communities our councillors will work together with traditional leaders as partners in development," Zuma said.
