Zuma files plea to remove Downer from corruption trial
Updated | By Nomfundo Ngcobo
Former president Jacob Zuma has officially filed his special plea affidavit that seeks to have the State's lead prosecutor, Advocate Billy Downer removed from his corruption trial.
The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) says the document regurgitates old issues, which it describes as false.
It says the issues raised were previously rejected by the courts.
Zuma and co-accused French arms company, Thales' case is linked to the multi-billion rand arms deal.

On Monday, the Pietermaritzburg High Court postponed the trial to next Wednesday.
NPA spokesperson Sipho Ngwema says the prosecutions body will reject the plea application in court...
"The NPA received the documents at 11pm last night from Mr Zuma's lawyers on his plea explanation. The NPA will study the document and respond extensively in court as is required.
"The matter is before court, so the NPA will go back to court with a full and clear argument of what has been put forward by the defense."
