Zuma to deliver SONA 2018 as planned

Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Lechesa Tsenoli says President Jacob Zuma will deliver the State of the Nation Address next week.
"We have received his request to address Parliament and that has been approved. That's when these preparations are in place. It cannot be correct that if there's a threat of disruption, we tell the president not to come and speak here," Tsenoli says.
Rumours of Zuma being recalled by the ANC have been circulating for weeks.
But some senior ANC members have denied the reports.

Speaking at this morning's briefing on their preparations for SONA, National Assembly Speaker, Baleka Mbete says Parliament's set aside R4.3-million for the event.
"In 2014, the amount budgeted originally was 9 230 000. The actual spend ended up being 6 356 000. For this year, we had budgeted 4 300 000. With the preceding years cited, we expect actual spend to be well below what we have budgeted," Mbete says.
