He told his supporters on Wednesday that the evidence they'll be bringing before the Pietermaritzburg High Court to prove that his prosecution is unfair - will put the decades-long matter to rest.

He alleges the State prosecutor and the investigators have broken the law and have been working with outside forces. He's accused them of gossiping about him and calling him all sorts of names.

He asked how his prosecution could go ahead if it's been handled in this matter.

Zuma has lodged a special plea application seeking the State's lead advocate, Billy Downer removed from the matter. He's accused Downer of not being impartial.

In a statement read out in court today, Zuma cited Downer having filed a supporting affidavit in a Democratic Alliance application to review and set aside an NPA decision to not prosecute the former president.

He says this has created an impression that Downer can't independently and impartially prosecute.

ANC provincial leaders took turns to address a large crowd of Jacob Zuma supporters after the court adjourned.

They had been bussed in from different provinces. They were chanting 'Zuma! Zuma!', as they wait for the former president to come and speak to them.

Zuma's son, Duduzane says they appreciate the support.

"I am also encouraged by support - there can never be too much support. So it's always good to feel the people.

"The gentleman in question, which is my father, is not alone and more than his family; there are other people out there that do care about him."
