Zuma's legal team has filed an urgent application asking the Constitutional Court to reconsider its contempt of court verdict and 15-month prison sentence.

He's also trying to stop the Minister of Police from arresting him.

That application's set to be heard in the Pietermaritzburg High Court on Tuesday.

The Jacob Zuma Foundation says that Zuma will be delivering what it calls, an address to the nation, from Durban on Sunday.

In court papers filed on Friday, the former leader asked the Constitutional Court to review whether its judgement was taken in line with the constitution.

He's described his prison sentence as a mere political statement, saying it doesn't serve any constitutional value.

Zuma also says that the court did not give him a proper opportunity to submit any mitigating factors after he was convicted of contempt of court.

He adds the incarceration order threatens his life explaining that he is a 79-year-old man who suffers from a medical condition that requires constant and intense therapy and attention.

Meanwhile MK Vets have warned of political instability and unrest if Zuma is sent to jail. Spokesperson for the Association, Carl Niehaus addressed the media in Nkandla on Friday.

According to the Constitutional Court ruling, Zuma is meant to hand himself over to police on Sunday.

If that doesn't happen, police will be given another three days to arrest him.
