Zuma calls for better protection of police
Updated | By Benedict Ngwenya
Fifty-five officers have been killed since the beginning of the year.
Zuma has been briefing the media on progress made since his State of the Nation Address earlier this year.
He says he has requested the Police Minister to re-examine the safety strategy to enable police officers to respond effectively when they come under attack.
"An attack on police officers is an attack on both the authority of the State and on the nation. I appeal to the people of South Africa to play an active role to curb attacks by identifying those who kill police officers as they live within our communities," he said.
