President announces Commission to look into higher education funding
The commission will be chaired by former Supreme Court of Appeal judge, Justice Jonathan Arthur Heher.
This follows the nation-wide Fees Must Fall movement, calling for free tertiary education.
The presidency's Bongani Majola says the Commission will look into different aspects of funding.
"The judge will be assisted by Advocate Gregory Ally as well as Ms Leah Thabisile Khumalo as commissioners.
The Commission shall enquire into the multiple facets of financial sustainability analyzing and assessing the role of government, together with its agencies, students, institutions, business sector and employers in funding higher education and training," he said.
