Through the reading of a statement at a media briefing at Kwakhethomthandayo Royal Palace in Nongoma the family indicated that the cleansing ceremony had gone well and that further talks were still being held by the family.

The family further downplayed factions saying it's normal for families to have differing views on certain matters.

Today's briefing follows  that held yesterday by Prime Minister in the Zulu royal household, Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi, who had condemned what he said was the action of some in the royal family who went ahead with the cleansing ritual at the absence of the newly installed Zulu king.

Responding to this and the matter of the throne brother of the late King Goodwill Zwelithini Prince Mbonisi Zulu said this.

"One has to emphasize that we followed all protocols that inform the royal family about what will happen and when. We believe everyone was contacted regarding the matter", he said.

"We had to perform these rituals with all the the members of the family at large", the prince said.

"Regarding the throne, as the royal family we will now sit and discuss matters around the royal throne", he said.
