Zulu regiments demand apology from Duma for mic-grabbing incident
Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
The
co-commander
of the Zulu regiments has described the mic-grabbing incident at KwaCeza during
a King Dinuzulu anniversary event as a disgrace.
ANC KZN Chair and MEC Siboniso Duma stood up from his seat and took the microphone from Amazulu traditional prime minister Reverend Thulasizwe Buthelezi while speaking.
Buthelezi, who is an IFP member, had criticised the ANC-led KZN government and referred to a provincial ANC leader.
Duma said Buthelezi was being disrespectful and clumsy and accused him of hijacking a government event to take political shots.
Speaking at a briefing in Durban on Tuesday, regiment leader Induna Sipho Mhlongo said the incident has embarrassed King Misuzulu, the president, and the Zulu nation as a whole.
Mhlongo said it's also degraded the traditional prime minister, who was recently appointed by the King.
He wants Duma to apologise for his behaviour.

"We are shocked on behalf of the leaders by what they witnessed; we don't ever wish to see something like that happening again,” Mhlongo said.
“We also understand that those who committed this act shocked us. They are also human beings, born of a man and a woman, so they will make mistakes. However, nothing beats recognising your mistakes. Take accountability and apologise for them.”
The commander of the Zulu regiments, India Sipho Mhlong and Izinduna will shortly brief the media in Durban following the Mike grabbing incident at KwaCeza between Siboniso Duma and Thulasizwe Buthelezi this weekend. @ECR_Newswatch pic.twitter.com/D5mWUDW9rA
