Zulu Queen Mantfombi Dlamini Zulu to be interred at midnight
Updated | By Steve Bhengu
Final preparations are being made at KwaKhangela Royal Palace in Nongoma, ahead of the burial of Queen Mantfombi Dlamini-Zulu.
The regent passed away a week ago in a Johannesburg hospital.
Newswatch can confirm the queens will be interred in a private ceremony at midnight tonight.
There had been some confusion after erroneous media reports that she was laid to rest last night.
This confusion could have been a result of a lack of a clear line of communication.
The palace is a hive of activity this afternoon in preparation for the queen’s final farewell.
Several marquees have been set up for maidens and their guardians, who’ll be spending the night on the palace grounds.
Tonight’s burial ceremony will be a private one as was the case when King Goodwill Zwelithini was planted over a month ago.
A memorial service for Queen Mantfombi will take place tomorrow.
The President granted her a special provincial official funeral category two.
