Zondo commission hears how Zuma meddled in Eskom's affairs

The inquiry into state capture has heard former President Jacob Zuma interfered with the business of the power utility's board.

Former Eskom board chairperson, Zola Tsotsi has testified that in 2015, Zuma contacted him personally and told him to postpone an upcoming board meeting that was going to discuss Eskom's finance - and hear a presentation by the then CEO, Tshediso Matona.
Tsotsi was asked at the inquiry if he sought reasons from Zuma as to why he didn't want the meeting to go ahead.

Tsotsi has also told the commission he met with Tony Gupta at the family's Saxonwold home - where he was asked to help facilitate a contract for the Guptas to supply gas to Eskom.

He says the Gupta brothers often dropped Zuma's name into their conversations.
He says met the Guptas because he feared losing his job or being reprimanded by Zuma.
