Zimbabwe election results expected as vote counting underway
Updated | By Steve Bhengu
Vote counting is well underway in Zimbabwe, following yesterday's historic elections.
The first results are expected to be announced this afternoon.
It's expected to be a tight race between 75-year-old President Emmerson Mnangagwa of Zanu PF and 40-year-old Nelson Chamisa of the opposition party, Movement for Democratic Change.
Leading up to the elections, many Zimbabweans living in South Africa had starting crossing the Beitbridge Border Post to vote.
Home Affairs' Thabo Mokgola says they recorded around 16 000 people crossing the border since Friday.
