Zikalala launches rehousing programme for flood victims

Sihle Zikalala has launched the first phase of a programme to re-house people
who were displaced by the April floods.

"We are unveiling parcels of land that have been secured and are linked to each mass care centre as part of the programme to get the lives of the people back to normal and give back their dignity.
Zikalala gave an update on the local government's response to the disaster in Reservoir Hills on Tuesday.
He said they've identified land in eight locations in eThekwini's northern and western regions to build temporary homes for Durban's flood victims.

"We are at a stage to start delivery of the 1074 temporary residential units as part of the first phase.
"The province 84 mass care centres of which 44 have already been linked with a possible land parcel."
