Zikalala delivers KZN SOPA today

All eyes will be on KwaZulu-Natal Premier Sihle Zikalala, as he delivers his State of the Province Address in Pietermaritzburg on Wednesday.

Zikalala will outline the provincial government's plans for the year. 


The Democratic Alliance hopes service delivery takes centre stage. KZN leader, Zwakele Mncwango says the Premier needs to urgently speak about the province's water supply problems. 


"How this government is planning to ensure that there is proper infrastructure, and we also retain skills for those who maintain skills water infrastructure in Ugu district and also other parts of KZN."


The IFP's Thami Ntuli says Zikalala must first give feedback on where they are on last year's promises.


[We want to know] "how does he intends to address the failures of the previous plan. Also, to address the issue of the economy."

The EFF's Vusi Khoza wants to know how the government plans on restoring stability at universities - where student protests halted lectures. 


"Be it UKZN, UniZulu - tertiary institutions are dysfunctional because of the lies the ANC sold to the people on free education."


Simo Mkhwanazi from the NFP wants to see a plan for job creation.


"If maybe he would focus on developing small businesses because that is where most of job creation will be." 


Speaking at the opening of the KZN Legislature yesterday, King Goodwill Zwelithini called for unity and government-led action against corruption.


"There is no single individual who is capable of building a nation on his or her own."
