Zikalala confirms lifestyle audit for KZN government officials

Provincial office bearers in the KZN Government will have to
undergo a lifestyle audit.
KZN Premier Sihle Zikalala made the announcement during a media briefing on the provincial government's COVID-19 related expenditure on Thursday.
Zikalala says close to 1,9 billion rand was given to KZN Departments for COVID-19 expenditure, he confirmed over half of that budget has already been spent.
Corruption and wasteful expenditure has been a thorn in the flesh for the KZN government, last month the premier revealed, irregular expenditure to nearly 30 million rand on PPE
Zikalala will be among those who will be audited. MECs, Department HODs, Senior Managers and Supply Chain Management officials will also be included.
"The executive council has taken this decision to demonstrate that those that serve the public must not only be competent but must exhibit good ethical and moral standing,” Zikalala said.
“The details on how these will be done will be announced in due course,” he added.
