Zikalala appeals to UKZN to consider students' concerns
Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
As the University of KwaZulu-Natal's management and SRC members meet to thrash out a deal on historic payments, KZN Premier Sihle Zikalala has appealed to the university to consider the students' grievances.
The varsity's obtained a court interdict prohibiting students from protesting and incitement on the premises.
The Vice-Chancellor says they have to fork out R31 million to pay for damages and property destroyed during SRC led demonstrations earlier this month.

Zikalala's condemned the violence while speaking in Durban yesterday but appealed to management to acknowledge students' genuine concerns.
"We need to be constructive when we deal with the plight of students, especially genuine grievances from students and those need to be attended with speed."
"We ask the university management to be sensitive to the plight of students in despair due to lack of financial ability to fulfill their dreams of post-matric education."
