Zandile Gumede Raid: 1 house, 3 luxury vehicles seized

The Hawks have confirmed they have attached one house and seized three vehicles belonging to former eThekwini mayor Zandile Gumede.

The Hawks and the NPA Asset Forfeiture Unit (AFU) swooped in on the properties of Gumede and all 15 of her co-accused in a corruption case linked to a Solid Waste tender, on Thursday morning. 


The officers seized about 10 luxury vehicles including, attached 10 properties, 26 companies and two trust funds amounting to R51 million. 


Hawks spokesperson, Hangwani Mulaudzi has also confirmed that Gumede possibly violated her bail conditions. 


Members flocked to an address of an Umhlanga home of which Gumede had provided as an address on her bail conditions, but she was not living there.

Earlier, Gumede had been asked to declare her assets to the Hawks and AFU officials. 


Officials raided her Inanda residence.


Meanwhile, the spokesperson for Gumede's supporters, Mzomuhle Dube, told reporters that the former mayor does not have a lot of assets.
