You'll now have to think twice about littering in Durban
Updated | By ECR Newswatch
Trouble makers and law-breakers in Durban and surrounds won't be able to get away with it much longer with the introduction of a new by-law by the eThekwini municipality.

The recently-gazetted “Nuisances and Behaviour in Public Places” by-law will come into effect later this year - and metro police and other law enforcement officials are said to be already receiving training to enforce it.
The new by-law regulates the use of and conduct in public spaces.
It will cover vandalism, noise, littering, the washing and repairing vehicles in public spaces, the hanging of items on fences, wall, balconies and verandas.
It promises to also deal with those who obstruct, block or disturbing traffic and pedestrians.
You will also have to be careful about what you grow and the weed-killers, herbicides and pesticides you use.
A fine of up to R40 000 or two year in jail awaits offenders depending on the offence committed.
Abusive, threatening or foul language or gestures are also punishable offences under the new by-law.
The details of the new by-law are available here.
