'You are playing with fire' - Prasa warns cable thieves
Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
Rail agency Prasa's condemned two attempted cable theft
incidents in KZN after the bodies of three suspected thieves were
discovered.
On Friday, a 24-year-old man was found hanging from a railway pylon after her was electrocuted.
Prasa believes he was trying to steal overhead cables near Durban's uMngeni train station.
A day later, two men who were apparently trying to steal cables at Duffs Road train station were found shot dead in KwaMashu.
Digging equipment, choppers and cables that had already been cut were found at the scene.
Zama Nomnganga is Prasa's provincial spokesperson.

"We continue to fight this behaviour," says Prasa spokesperson Zama Nomnganga.
"People who are caught will be brought to book. But you also get those who end up dead."
She says the theft causes more damage to infrastructure already affected by the recent floods.
"Before this, we weren't running services due to this behaviour, which is theft and damage to infrastructure. We are doing our best to protect what is left but people must know that if you touch our infrastructure, you are playing with fire and you will be killed."
