The young communists are currently holding its National Council at the University of Johannesburg in Soweto.
The league's National Secretary Mluleki Dlelanga welcomed the decision by Cosatu to back ANC Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa to succeed President Jacob Zuma.
Dlelanga says the tradition of the ANC for the Deputy President to succeed the President must continue.
"We are happy with the decision Cosatu took on the succession debate of the ANC. We will always be on the side of the workers. They have left us with no choice, because the workers have spoken. We are forced and bound to support Cyril Ramaphosa," says Dlelanga.
Dlelanga says they are not calling for President Jacob Zuma to step down.
