World Rhino Day: Calls for action for increased preservation
Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
On this World Rhino Day, there are renewed calls for all South Africans to act to help protect these precious animals.

One man is walking from Zinkwazi to Umhlanga to highlight their plight. SANParks Honorary ranger Grant Melville began his 70km trek yesterday morning at Zinkwazi main beach and is making his way down across several north coast beaches.
He will finish on Durban View in Umhlanga Rocks this morning. Melville is also raising funds for the SANParks K9 Anti-Poaching Unit. Lene Hansen is the vice-chairperson of the SANParks Honorary Rangers KZN Region.
Hansen says rhinos remain in danger.
"This is so important because South Africa is losing three rhinos to poaching per day and if this continues future generations will not have a rhino to see," she said.
"We all need to do our bit, to do something to save our rhino, rather than just caring," Hansen said.
