environmental preservation is just the start if effective mitigating of climate
change is to be achieved.

Environmental Affairs spokesperson Albi Modise says the recent KZN weather phenomenon has proven that knowledge about weather systems, the earth and our environment is likely to save many lives.
"Of course with KZN coming out of the recent floods that ravished the province we would seek to make use of the celebration to raise awareness of climate change.
"We can make an appeal to society, in general, to work closely with government and all the different sectors of society to collaborate so we can cut the carbon footprint, to reduce the amount of plastic that goes into the rivers which flows into the ocean, thereby threatening our beaches. We want to make an appeal to keep our environment clean."
