Woolworths pulls packaged rice mix after Listeria scare
Updated | By ECR Newswatch
Customers who have purchased Woolworths' frozen savoury rice mix will receive a full refund upon return of the product.
The local retail giant has recalled its packaged savoury rice product.
In their statement, the retailer says they've taken a decision to voluntarily remove the product from its shelves as per instructions from the Hungarian Food Safety Agency following a global listeria scare.
The sweetcorn found in the product that's sourced from Belgium - is imported from a Hungary food production plant.
We’re recalling our frozen savoury rice as a precautionary measure; if you’ve bought the product please return it to store for a full refund.

The factory is said to be implicated as a likely source of a Listeria outbreak in Europe.
In South Africa, Health Minister Aaron Motsoaledi first confirmed the outbreak in December last year.
This after an ST6 strain of listeria was found at an Enterprise Foods facility in Polokwane.
Meanwhile, Woolworth says its other frozen sweetcorn and vegetable products have not been affected.
